CLIMATE-RELATED QUESTIONS

How do you manage extreme heat and dust control/air quality during the remodeling process?

Arizona's intense heat, monsoons, and dusty conditions can pose significant challenges during remodeling projects. We care about our workers and when the heat is extreme, we schedule the most labor-intensive tasks for cooler hours, set up shade structures, and provide adequate cooling equipment while remodeling your home.

In Arizona, before demolition or excavation, we will thoroughly wet down the area to minimize dust generation. When necessary, we use Negative Pressure Enclosures, and HEPA Filters (ventilation) and we will frequently clean work areas and equipment to remove accumulated dust.

Can you design outdoor living spaces that are suitable for Arizona’s Climate?

We design outdoor living spaces tailored to Arizona's climate, focusing on:

  • Prioritizing ample shade to protect from the intense sun, especially during peak hours. Consider pergolas, umbrellas, or awnings.
  • Proper ventilation is important to mitigate heat and humidity. Choosing materials that allow for airflow, like slatted wood or metal screens makes all the difference.
  • In Arizona, incorporating water features like fountains or pools creates a cooling effect and enhances the ambiance.
  • You will want to opt for low-maintenance landscaping that includes drought-tolerant plants and landscaping that require minimal watering.

What steps do you take to ensure energy efficiency in Arizona’s desert environment?

We optimize energy efficiency in desert home remodels by focusing on:

  • Insulation: Prioritize proper insulation in walls, ceilings, and attics to prevent heat transfer. Spray Foam insulation adds cooling benefits.
  • We pay attention to Installing high-efficiency HVAC systems with proper ductwork.
  • Choose energy-efficient windows with low-E coatings to reflect heat. Consider window treatments like blinds or shades to control sunlight.
  • Choose energy-efficient models with Energy Star ratings and consider appliances with specific desert climate features, such as drought-resistant dishwashers.
  • Install a tankless water heater to reduce energy consumption.
  • Explore solar panel installation to generate clean energy and offset electricity costs.
  • LED Lighting

By incorporating these strategies, we significantly reduce energy consumption and create a comfortable, sustainable living space in the desert.
