Modern Transitional Kitchen

Entertain Friends and Family in Style!

Functional & Beautiful

This modern transitional kitchen has been designed so that the homeowner can entertain her family and friends in style. Homework Remodels was asked to design an open-concept space plan, provide additional storage, create a designated baking center, and incorporate an island into an already cramped space! First of all, we began by removing a wall that divided the living room from the kitchen, providing for better traffic flow around the kitchen. Then, we added an oversized quartz island that can seat five adults comfortably, has spectacular waterfall edges, and looks seamless, thanks to our amazing fabricator! New cabinets, hardware, appliances, and lighting completed the design. As a result, we were able to provide the homeowner with the kitchen of her dreams.

Storage & Style

Since this modern transitional kitchen is packed full of organizational accessories,  it is now more convenient for our homeowner. We also provided the requested baking center and improved upon it by locating a second prep area nearby. Next, Cherry cabinetry with a Shaker style door style and sleek stainless hardware were double stacked for additional storage. Several of the upper cabinets have glass inserts to show off the homeowners’ collection of souvenirs from around the world. Furthermore, the clean lines of the crown molding help to ground the kitchen, as the vaulted ceiling height is 12′-6″.  In addition, an eclectic mix of highly reflective glass arabesques and Carrera marble was used on the backsplash.

Our Nationally Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer also made sure this reconfigured space was well-lit. The LED lighting package contained an array of fixtures, including the above cabinet, in the cabinet, and under cabinet lighting to provide task, ambient, and accent light. Finally, we used three gorgeous pendant lights over the island that have the look of draped fabric, to add a little softness. The homeowner chose the wall color, which turns out to be very similar to “Shadow” the 2017 Color of the Year from Benjamin Moore!
