Tri-Lite Project Highlight – Finding Space in Ahwatukee~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This Ahwatukee kitchen suffered from poor design and awkward space planning. The cumbersome positioning of key appliances greatly impacted functionality for this Ahwatukee Family.  After eventually incorporating “anyone in the refrigerator?” as part of a regular welcome phrase used before entering the kitchen from the garage to avoid running into the door of the fridge, this family finally had enough.

After consulting with Tri-Lite to make the kitchen design more functional, the result and the change is amazing.  Changing the layout and reconfiguring the entry created the feeling of a much larger kitchen.   The beautiful tall Maple cabinets and granite countertops as well as improved window sill add elegance and style.  We love creating space!

ARI offers a few tips that can help people stay cool at low costs:

·Run fans to keep air moving, so you feel cooler and can cut back air conditioner use.

·Clean and replace the air conditioner’s filter frequently (monthly during heavy use).

·Keep fallen leaves, grass clippings, foliage and other dirt and debris away from your outdoor unit. And keep the air conditioner’s coils clean, following manufacturers instructions.

And if your air conditioner is on the way out, buy an ENERGY STAR® air conditioner, and save up to 10 percent!

Yoga Studio Before/After

Did you know that Tri-Lite Builders also specializes in commercial projects? While known for our expertise in residential remodeling, we also help many local businesses look their best.

Take a look at our recent project at the Hot Yoga Studio in Ahwatukee. The studio needed to “stretch” its space to accommodate new owner Sandra Lassiter’s clientele.
We met their needs by removing walls and reconfiguring the reception area. We’ve reused and recycled old countertops to make benches and reused flooring from the reception area for one of the treatment rooms. We also upgraded the restrooms to look anything but commercial.Stop by to see for yourself how the remodel turned out and stay for a yoga class! Hot Yoga has an introductory offer for two weeks for only $25! It is located at 4025 E. Chandler Blvd in Suite 22, next to Trader Joe’s at the Southeast corner of 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard.

Tri-Lite Builders Special Alert

Arizona’s Appliance Rebate Program April 12

March 18, 2010

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since many of you have been asking about the details regarding The Appliance Rebate Program, we decided to create this special alert that you can read and share with your friends.
It’s been in the press, you might have seen flyers or posters in your local stores, but here are the facts.
The Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office has secured a rebate company to operate the State’s $6.2 million appliance rebate program, and will launch the program on Monday, April 12, 2010. On April 12, Arizonans will have the opportunity to obtain a reservation for a rebate online or by phone.IMPORTANT: These rebates will only apply to purchases made once the program officially begins. Purchase dates within program requirements will be necessary to receive rebates. Rebates will be limited to one appliance per category per household only.This program, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, is designed to help consumers make the switch to Energy Star appliances which are generally 15-50 percent more efficient than standard appliances. Under Arizona’s program, eligible appliances will be Energy Star clothes washers, dishwashers and water heaters with rebates ranging from $75 to $425, depending on the purchase.
While Arizona does not require proof of recycling, you will need to self-certify that the old appliance has been replaced to receive the rebate. Inspections are possible.The Arizona Department of Commerce has accurate and current information posted online. Visit online at: www.AzCommerce.com/Energy/Rebate to learn more.There is also a phone hotline dedicated to this rebate: 602-771-1186.
Rebate Offers by Arizona Energy Office
Glossary:
MEF – Modified Energy Factor: a measure of energy efficiency that considers the energy used by the washer, the energy used to heat the water, and the energy used to run the dryer. The higher the MEF, the more energy efficient the clothes washer.
WF – Water Factor: measures water efficiency in gallons of water consumed per cubic foot of capacity. The lower the WF, the more water efficient the clothes washer.
kWh – Kilowatt Hour: a unit of energy equal to 3.6 megajoules. The most common use of the unit is when energy is delivered by electric utilities to consumers.
EF – Energy Factor: the ratio of useful energy output from the water heater to the total amount of energy delivered to the water heater. EF is a metric used to compare relative efficiencies of water heaters. The higher the EF is, the more efficient the water heater. EF is determined by the DOE test procedure, Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Section 430.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Tri-Lite team wishes you and your family a joyous
holiday season! May the new year bring you many
blessings of health, happiness and prosperity. As we
recall the things we are most grateful for this time of
year, we feel especially thankful for the many positive
relationships that Tri-Lite Builders has brought into
our lives. Thank you to our clients, contractors,
suppliers and community partners for making 2009 a
special year for us.

We here at Tri-Lite will celebrate by doing a team
community service project, followed by a Christmas
Luncheon on Dec 22nd. We’re remodeling a
bathroom at Save the Family’s main office in Mesa,
updating it with new paint, flooring & fixtures in
addition to making it handicap accessible. Our thanks
to Kohler for donating a new toilet and bathroom sink
faucet. If you’d like to contribute to this much needed
project, please feel free to contact Tri-Lite at
480.895.3442.

To enjoy the holidays our office will be closed on
12/24 & 12/25 as well as 12/31 & 1/1.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

CotY 2009

The Greater Phoenix Chapter of the National
Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)
presented Tri-Lite with a 2010 Contractor of the Year
Award for a “Bathroom Remodel over $50,000″ at their
Holiday Party this month. It’s Tri-Lite’s sixth NARI
Award!

Tri-Lite won the award for an innovative transformation
of a 1990’s “Pepto-Bismol Pink” bathroom into an
inviting, spa-like atmosphere. This bathroom remodel
has swept local and national award contests recently
and was even featured on the November 2009 cover
of the national magazine Kitchen and Bath Design
News
. The bathroom also garnered a national
2009 Master Design Award sponsored by Qualified
Remodeler Magazine
.

The winning local entry will move on to the next level of
the NARI awards contest in consideration for a
regional and national CotY Award. NARI will announce
the regional and national winners at it’s
annual “Evening of Excellence“, to be held in
Phoenix on April 10, 2010.

Please join us in recognizing our very own, Todd
O’Connor’s excellent commitment to customer service
and craftsmanship. Todd consistently finishes
projects on time and under budget, and receives
positive feedback from his clients. After working a year
with Tri-Lite Builders as a Lead Carpenter, Todd was
promoted to Project Manager earlier this month. A
recent “BRAVO” nomination from our client Marc
Burhans, stated, “Todd is very detail oriented and
works hard to make sure everything is the best
possible for the customer.”

Save the Family Graduates 20 Families!

stf

On Friday, Dec. 11th, Tri-Lite joined the Save the
Family Foundation in celebrating the successes of 20
local families who’ve made in through the non-profit’s
transitional housing and career development
programs. It’s a remarkable tribute says Tri-Lite
co-owner Linda Minde, to the strength and
determination these families have shown in
overcoming the many challenges of homelessness,
poverty and abuse. For more information about the

Green Tip – Reusable Gift Wrap

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Christmas, not only give a gift that keeps on
giving… give gift wrap that keeps on giving! Instead of
using expensive gift bags or wasteful wrapping paper
this year, opt for reusable grocery bags made from
eco-friendly materials. Most grocery stores sell
reusable bags now for about $1, and some
department stores even sell trendy versions, also at a
very minimal cost. While it may not be as traditional as
wrapping paper or glossy gift bags, your friends and
family are sure to appreciate your eco-friendly
ingenuity. (thanks to Carolyn Brown’s mom for this
suggestion)
